SHILLONG, Dec 28: KHNAM MLA from North Shillong Adelbert Nongrum, on Wednesday, laid the foundation stone for widen of the 500-metre internal road at Jaiaw Umpohliew Block in Jaiaw Laitdom.
The widening work on the road has been earmarked under the Special Urban Works Programme (SUWP) of 2022-2023.
Speaking on the occasion, Nongrum said that he has made an earnest attempt to attend to the needs of the people of his constituency in the past five years, as he lauded the efforts of Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong in convincing land owners to part with their land to pave way for widening of the road. He also praised the different Dorbar Shnong for their support and cooperation in the implementation of various developmental programmes in the constituency.
It may be mentioned that work on the widening of the road started immediately after the foundation stone laying ceremony.
