SHILLONG, Jan 7: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) has been declared a ‘Centre of Excellence’ by the Resource Centre for United Nations — North East Region (NER).
According to a statement, a letter in this regard was handed to USTM Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque on Friday by UN Resource Centre (NER) Executive Director Dr Aswini Sarma in the presence of USTM Vice Chancellor Prof GD Sharma, among others.

“The university will have a United Nations Reading Library, it will be eligible to organise UN and UNESCO seminars and conferences at the University. USTM will participate in UN or UNESCO conferences at the state, national and international levels, apart from visits of UN or UNESCO officials to the University,” he stated.
