Admin’s appeal to ignore rumours

 SHILLONG: The Deputy Commissioner of South West Garo Hills has asked all the senior citizens, church and other religious leaders, local leaders, NGOs and the general public of the district to refrain from reacting to propaganda, false news through mobile phones and SMS and other means being circulated by rumour mongers and other vested interest with an intent to incite public sentiments and create misunderstanding and suspicion among the different communities residing peacefully in the district.

In a statement issued here on Friday, the DC said that the citizens of the district has been living in harmony and no untoward incidents have been reported in the prevailing law and order situation till date.

He also stated that strong actions will be initiated against those individuals who are found to intentionally circulated propaganda and false news amongst the general public.
