MAWKYRWAT, Jan 12: A total of 400 beneficiaries in Mawkyrwat, South West Khasi Hills, were provided CGI sheets under Chief Minister Housing Assistance Programme (CMHAP) 2021-22 during a programme on Wednesday.
Mawkyrwat MLA and PHE Minister Renikton L Tongkhar, who gave away the CGI sheets, said that there are quite a number of poor families in Mawkyrwat block who live in unfavourable conditions and face a lot of problems during monsoon due to broken roofs.
He expressed hope that the CGI sheets will be of help to such households.
Tongkhar also exhorted the people of Mawkyrwat not to wait for help from government, NGOs or individuals and instead continue to work hard and improve their daily income.
Others who were part of the programme include Project Director of District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) LT Tariang, Block Development Officer I Lawriniang, Chairman of the Housing Block Committee J Nongsiej, among others.
