Poll officials seize over Rs 16L cash

SHILLONG, Jan 27: Poll officials in Meghalaya on Friday seized cash over Rs 16.5 lakh in Garo Hills region, official of the Election department said.
With this, officials have seized cash amounting to over Rs 51.5 lakh from across the state after the model code of conduct came into force. This includes Rs 35 lakh seized earlier in the state.
According to the officials, 34 assembly constituencies across the state have been identified as ‘expenditure sensitive’ and flying squads are observing strict monitoring of movement of people in these segments.
