SHILLONG, Jan 28: In what may be termed an odd mix of allegiances, TMC’s candidate from Jowai constituency, Andrew Shullai has garnered twin support from veteran Congress leader RC Laloo and NPP MDC from Jowai North, Brightstar Chyrmang.
Speaking at a meeting, Laloo, who is a former Deputy Chief Minister, exuded confidence in Shullai’s candidature. “Andrew is full of hope. Let us choose hope; not only for this generation but for the future generation too. I told him (Shullai) to have determination in this fight for the people of Jowai”.
In his address, the Congress leader assured the gathering that Shullai would win the election.
Chyrmang, on the other hand, said the NPP-led government “did nothing for our people”.
“We have seen a lot of problems in the District Council like not getting our salaries and delayed disbursal of central government funds. This government has not supported us in any way,” the NPP MDC alleged.
The TMC candidate also took a dig at the MDA accusing it of failing on the healthcare front.
Talking about the Trinamool’s party manifesto, Shullai said all promises made will be implemented once TMC comes to power.
