Chief Electoral Officer reviews poll preparations in SWGH

Ampati, Feb 2 : Meghalaya’s Chief ‘Electoral Officer, FR Kharkongor, along with Nodal Officer for Civil  Aviation ( Election), KL Nongbri,  Nodal Officer for SVEEP & Systems Analyst Geoffrey Nongrum, sat with District Administration and officials of various line departments of South West Garo Hills to  review the preparedness  for the forthcoming Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Elections in the district at Circuit House, Ampati, on Thursday.
Kharkongor instructed the Officials to strictly adhere to timelines set by the Election Commission for various election related activities including filing of nomination by the candidates.
Stating that South West Garo Hills is a politically sensitive area, Kharkongor stressed on proper deployment of Flying Squads and Static Surveillance teams and also to make necessary arrangements for deployment of CRPF in order to conduct free,  fair and peaceful elections.
In order to strictly enforce Model Code of Conduct, Kharkongor also instructed the District Election Officer to issue strict order to all Heads of Departments to restrain government employees from demonstrating active affiliation to any political party.
