SHILLONG, Feb 4: Helmets were made mandatory in Shillong for motorists as well as the pillion but it seems the rules are different for common people and VIPs.
On Saturday, pictures of Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong and Transport Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar went viral wherein they could be seen riding pillions but without helmets.
Under different circumstances, if a commoner would be seen riding a two-wheeler without a helmet in the city, the traffic police would compound the violator.
