SHILLONG, Feb 7: In what may be a precursor of the things to come ahead of the high-voltage February 27 Assembly polls in the state, TMC candidate SG Esmatur Mominin on Monday alleged that several party workers were attacked by NPP men at Charbatapara booth in Phulbari assembly constituency of West Garo Hills late Tuesday night.
The attack took place at around 10.30 pm when NPP workers allegedly vandalised the premises where Meghalaya TMC meeting was conducting a meeting, Mominin said.
Videos of the clash have gone viral on social media sites.
The NPP workers allegedly barged into the meeting premises and created ruckus following which one Nozrul Hoque, 59, was injured. TMC workers rushed him to the nearby Phulbari CHC, Mominin said.
A TMC statement said Mominin was in contact with the injured party workers.
Mominin appealed TMC workers to remain calm and work for the constituency.
The Chief Electoral Officer and the Superintendent of Police, West Garo Hills could not be contacted for details of the incident.
