Mahendra Singh Dhoni pulled off another miracle wining the final one dayer hitting the last ball for a six at Port-of –Spain in West Indies. Some recalled Javed Miandad’s sixer off Chetan Sharma in Sharjah 27 years ago. Cricket lovers may also cast their minds back to the memorable Australia-West Indies tie match in the distant past where the last hit was a clincher. How does Dhoni do it? He has not just collected Man of the Match and tri-series winners’ silverware. He has done India proud. Dhoni attributes his success to his cricketing good sense. India needed 24 runs to win in the last five overs. That meant scoring 5 runs an over. Dhoni did not follow the law of averages. He scored 15 runs in the last over and slammed a six off the last ball.

Dhoni’s unorthodox approach has caused wonderment in the cricketing world. Some IITans have been inspired to map his brain. He took off his gloves in the Champion Trophy semifinal; he bowled and bagged a wicket right away. He gave an extra over to Ishant Sharma who had not been doing famously and Sharma struck two vital blows to England. It reminds one of Tiger Pataudi pegging away with Chandrashekhar to beat West Indies for the first time in Calcutta. Dhoni’s judgments seem to have a magic touch and cannot be called just luck! He is one of the best finishers in world cricket. The answer to the Dhoni riddle lies in his sixth sense and India is lucky to have him.
