Shillong, Feb 15: Meghalaya drew 0-0 with Railways in their third Group B match of the final round of the 76th Men’s National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy in Bhubaneswar today.
Meghalaya had won their match against Manipur on Monday, which followed a defeat to Services on Saturday.
Coach Khlain Pyrkhat Syiemlieh made two changes to the starting XI from the last game, bringing in Damonlang Pathaw and Everbrightson Mylliempdah in place of Manbhakupar Iawphniaw and Donlad Diengdoh.
Syiemlieh made four substitutions in the second half but they had little effect. Meghalaya have now scored only one goal in three outings despite some experimentation in personnel.
In other results from the group today, Services were held to a 1-1 draw with Delhi and Manipur smashed West Bengal 4-1.
Unbeaten Services continue to lead the standings after three rounds with 7 points now with Manipur in second with 6. Meghalaya and Railways have 4 each (with the former having the better goal difference of -1 to -2) while Delhi (2 points) and West Bengal (1) bring up the rear.
Meghalaya’s next opponents will be Delhi on Saturday. Delhi have yet to win a match and it will be a must-win game for Meghalaya.
