SHILLONG, Feb 21: Congress’ star campaigner and former Cabinet minister, Sachin Pilot on Tuesday addressed a meeting of the party at Khyndailad.
It was clearly evident that Pilot was in a hurry as the senior leader reached Police Bazar and addressed the gathering for only a few minutes before leaving.
A small crowd had gathered at the venue, most of whom were party workers.
Pilot exuded confidence that the Congress will form the next government in Meghalaya and urged voters to bless the grand old party with a thumping majority.
Pilot mentioned that the Congress lacked the BJP’s resources but the party had people’s support and blessings.
“The mass migration of elected representatives from one party to another is something that doesn’t augur well for our polity,” the AICC leader said, while adding that most of the political leaders in the state, no matter where they are today, have originally come from the Congress. “There are many parties which are playing a game of who can be the bar broker in the end, but the Congress has history, association, commitment and performance and voters in Meghalaya are very well aware of that,” Pilot said.
The Congress leader also lashed out at the BJP for playing safe and accusing its partner, NPP, of indulcing in corruption.
