NONGSTOIN: The KSU Rngikseh Lawrynjam Unit led by its president, New Year Lyngkhoi, KSU Mawthadraishan led by president Damian L Marshangbai and the Headman of Lawrynjam recently inspected the PHC at Pariong, West Khasi Hills.

During the inspection, the students’ body found that the PHC was crammed with beds due to insufficient space.

They also found that the supply of electricity at the PHC was very erratic.

In this regard, they recently met the Minister of Health A L Hek and urged the Government to provide better health facilities at Pariong Primary Health Centre (PHC).

Speaking to pressman at Nongstoin, New Year said that the discussion with the Minister was very successful. He added that the Minister had assured to provide all possible help to the PHC.

New Year said “The PHC at Pariong caters to many villages and requires proper facilities. Even the staff of the PHC does not have proper and sufficient quarters. The PHC is devoid of fencing and is open to stray animals doing the rounds within the campus.”

New Year also said that they had also pressed the Minister for an ambulance at PHC Pariong.

He informed that the patients from PHC Pariong borrow the ambulance from PHC Markasa to ferry patients to Shillong, which too is rarely available owing to the large number of patients.
