SHILLONG, Feb 22: Raking up the “outsider” tag once again, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Wednesday urged the electorate to vote for NPP, the party from Meghalaya, and reject outside parties who do not understand the state and its people.
Addressing election rallies in Resubelpara and Mendipathar, the NPP chief said, “Meghalaya cannot remain dependent on leaders and political parties from ‘outside’ for development of the state.”
“We cannot go West Bengal and Delhi for solutions to our problems,” he said, explaining that (L) PA Sangma had launched NPP for the people of Meghalaya.
“This is our own party,” he said, exuding confidence that NPP will form the government in the state.
“We will form the government with full majority,” he added.
