SHILLONG, Feb 23: Meghalaya BJP on Thursday cast aspersions on the past governments’ failure to generate employment opportunities in the state and informed that the BJP, if in power, will establish Meghalaya Combined Recruitment Commission and expedite the filling up of vacancies in different government departments.
Addressing media persons at Khyndai Lad on Thursday, BJP spokesperson M Kharkrang said Meghalaya is the only state that conducts interviews for recruitment to Grade IV posts.
Assuring transparency during recruitment process under BJP dispensation, the party spokesperson said interviews for recruitment to Grade III and IV posts in various government departments will soon be a thing of the past in Meghalaya.
Meanwhile, in a scathing attack on the TMC, Kharkrang said, “The leaders of the TMC are the same bunch of people who ruled Meghalaya for eight years before 2018.”
Arguing that the TMC is itself caught in the West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC) recruitment scam, Kharkrang alleged that the Meghalaya Youth Employment (MYE) Card is a “false promise” to deceive the voters of Meghalaya.
“The scam is about illegally recruiting teachers and other non-teaching employees in Bengal schools. This can be best called TMC’s flagship model of employment. Do we want this model in Meghalaya,” Kharkrang questioned.
Training guns on the NPP, the BJP spokesperson said that there is a general perception that “one has to be close to the NPP leadership to get a government job.”
Lamenting that most of the educated youths of Meghalaya are moving out in search of employment opportunities, he said the recruitment to government posts in the state currently lack transparency.
