SHILLONG, March 6: As a new dispensation is on the cusp of taking over as the incumbent government of Meghalaya, UDP MLA from West Shillong, Paul Lyngdoh feels that the MDA 2.0 looks strong enough to survive the five years of storm.
“What I can say it looks pretty tight and it is strong enough to weather the storm of five years,” Lyngdoh said on Monday after swearing in as an MLA.
On the clamour for a government led by the regional front, the UDP MLA said, “This time around, you will notice in the House we could garner only 19 seats out of the total 60 seats. Certainly there is much more if the electorates really want to see a regional (front)-led government. Then it would mean they have to target the magic number of 30.”
According to him, a total of 19 seats including UDP which bagged a maximum of 11 are not good enough figures. “We have young leaders coming up and experienced guys like us then certainly the future looks bright. All I can say is I am not an astrologer and I can’t predict the future,” he said.
The West Shillong MLA, on the sidelines, said he will be able to contribute immensely with his experiences until today. “I think with maturity, I will be able to conduct myself more efficiently and study and try to resolve issues and certainly optimise the potential which I have,” he added.
