Conrad asked to allot one cabinet berth to MLA from Ri-Bhoi

NONGPOH, March 6: The Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong of Ri-Bhoi, a conglomerate of headmen from the district, has exhorted Chief Minister-designate Conrad Sangma to consider appointing at least one MLA from the district as cabinet minister in the in the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) 2.0.
Speaking to The Shillong Times on Monday, the chairman of the body, Banbuhai Makdoh, said that Ri-Bhoi has given three MLAs to the MDA 2.0, viz. UDP MLA from Nongpoh, Mayralborn Syiem, and NPP MLAs Sosthesnes Sohtun from Jirang and Damanbait Lamare from Umroi constituencies.
Ri-Bhoi has been chosen as one of the 112 aspirational districts in the country. Therefore, it is high time that the district should get at least one MLA as cabinet minister this time in order to fulfil the aspirations and dreams of the people and for the overall development of the district, Makdoh maintained.
