Ex-Governor of Tamil Nadu and Assam, B Narian Singh recently handed over the Rashtriya Gaurav Award and the Bharat Seva Award to SR Shangpliang, a retired IPS Officer for his outstanding achievement in his career and Dr (Ms) NW Kharkongor, a professor at the Rajiv Gandhi IIM Shillong for her outstanding role as educationist respectively.
Arrested
The main accused in the elephant poaching case, Lokeshor Khamdeit was arrested from Umjari Mathan village, Ri-Bhoi district after a joint operation between the Wildlife Protection Squad, Nongpoh Range and Ri-Bhoi Police. It may be reminded that earlier 5 persons had been booked for transportation and sale of 60kgs of elephant meat. The culprit is remanded to judicial custody for further interrogation.
