CM to present Budget on March 23

SHILLONG, March 13: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, who also holds the Finance portfolio, will present the full Budget for the financial year 2023-24 on March 23.
The seven-day Budget session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, the first of the newly-inducted MDA 2.0 Government, will be held from March 20-28.
Informing this here on Monday after holding a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee, Speaker Thomas A. Sangma said it will be a full budget session. “Since this month marks the end of the financial year, the government needs to clear all pending financial dues and hence we decided to continue with the session till March 28 so that everyone will be available to clear the dues before March 31,” he said.
The election of the Deputy Speaker will be held on the first day of the session.
Five days have been reserved for government business while the remaining two days have been allocated to private members.
