Actor Sameer Khakhar passes away after multiple organ failure

Shillong, March 15: Veteran actor Sameer Khakhar popular for his role of ‘Khopdi’ in hit show of 80s – Nukkad – passed away in Mumbai early this morning.

His family informed the media that the 71-year-old actor died after facing respiratory issues. Sameer Khakhar has worked in many films. He made a comeback in the Indian film industry after returning from the USA in 1996 where he was settled.

His last film was Jai Ho and he was also in a TV show named Sanjeevani.

Some of the shows in which he worked include Circus, Shriman Shrimati, Maniranjan and Adalaat. He was cremated in the presence of family and friends.

Ganesh Khakhar, brother of Sameer said that the actor suffered from respiratory problems after which a doctor was also called. Sameer was later taken to a hospital but he suffered multiple organ failure after which he died at around 4.30 am today.
