DHTE pats Shillong College for overall progress

SHILLONG, March 15: Director of Higher and Technical Education (DHTE) Ambrose C Marak on Wednesday acknowledged the overall progress of the Shillong College, especially in terms of infrastructure, faculty, result, etc.
Marak was addressing a gathering as the guest of honour during the inaugural programme of Art and Culture Gallery and RUSA-funded Extension of Library at the college.
According to a statement here, the inaugural programme was organised by Research, Innovation and Publication cell, Shillong College, in collaboration with Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Shillong College.
Marak, during the programme, also heaped praise on the college for coming up with three important publications — Research Methodology, Crossborder Connectivity and Inclusive Growth: Possibilities and Challenges with Special Reference to the North- Eastern Region, and Echoes from the Hills — all of which were released on the occasion.
Commissioner & Secretary of Education department, BDR Tiwari, who attended the programme as the chief guest, congratulated the college for extending the library.
He accentuated the need to inculcate the habit of reading books among the students.
On the other hand, Shillong College principal, Dr. E Kharkongor, said that the programme highlights the progress of the college.
Stating that sweeping changes are likely to impact all educational institutes in the present scenario, she then maintained that there is a need for collective work, cohesiveness and cooperation on part of all the stakeholders of higher education.
