SHILLONG, March 21: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday said that the state government has already taken a decision to introduce Journalist Pension Scheme.
“We will shortly come up with this scheme,” Sangma said while replying to a debate on the Governor’s address on the second day of the Budget session here on Tuesday.
Regarding the advertisement policy, the chief minister said that the different payments earlier used to be made department wise and hence every department had to raise different bills of different agencies. “But now we have consolidated all of that and brought it under DIPR. This entire restructuring will help and they are also aware that we come out with the policy for advertisement and the rates have been fixed,” he said.
He said that the print and electronic media or different social media platforms all have their slabs.
Earlier, while participating in the general discussion on the Governor’s address,
VPP legislator Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit urged the state government to give eminence to this department as it deals with all publicity works of the government.
He also requested the government to start implementing the Journalist Pension Scheme, which has been announced in the past, and to ensure regular payment of advertisement bills to media houses.
