SHILLONG: A gritty performance by Nongumlong earned them a 2-0 win over Pynthorbah in Saturday’s Second Division football match at the JN Sports Complex, Polo.

Pynthorbah’s only consolation was their keeper’s ability to foil a number of attempts by the aggressive Nongumlong attack.

The winners opened their account with a 23rd minute goal by Banmanroy Nongsiej while Ribok Sawian scored the second goal in the 65th minute. Pynthorbah were denied a goal in the 70th minute when M Kharkongor missed a penalty.

On Monday, Sohryngkham will face Krang at the JN Stadium at 1pm. This match will be followed by the clash between Riatsamthiah and Mawshbuit at 4pm at Ground III in the Second Division matches.

Meanwhile, a First Division match will be played between Nongkrem and Laitlyngkot at the JN Stadium on the same day.
