SHILLONG: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) seems keen on allotting the party ticket for the Shillong Lok Sabha seat to sitting MP Vincent H Pala.

A party source on Saturday said that the Central leadership of the party wants Pala to seek a second term from Shillong overruling the protests of many sitting and former party legislators who have questioned the ‘negative role’ played by Pala during the February Assembly election in the State which resulted in many party candidates losing the polls.

Pala has also not expressed any desire not to contest the election, the source added.

Earlier, there were reports that a section of the State Congress leaders wanted to rope in former Home Minister Robert G Lyngdoh to contest the 2014 election but there has been no follow-up action on their part in this regard.
