SHILLONG: With the Centre yet to give its seal of approval to the draft ANVC peace agreement, the breakaway faction of the outfit (ANVC-B) has urged the government to expedite the process for overall development of Garo Hills.

ANVC-B leader Rimpu Marak on Tuesday said his group, one of the signatories of the draft agreement, was looking forward to the signing of the final agreement.

The peace pact is awaiting Prime Minister’s consent.

“Sooner we sign, better for the people of our state as we can start implementing the provisions of this settlement,” ANVC-B leader said.

When asked if this delay (in signing the agreement) has led to the emergence of splinter groups, he said there was no more splinter group except the one formed by Norok.

He said that he had been in constant touch with the interlocutor and following up the status of the agreement.
