SHILLONG, April 9: Meghalaya has achieved 25% of the targeted implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), according to ‘CM Dashboard’, a government initiative which provides visual insight of different programmes being undertaken in the state.
The target is to construct 65,742 houses in the state out of which 16,925 have been built, while 48,817 is pending.
30.54% of the houses are at ‘Sanction Level’ while 4.98% are at ‘Roof Cast Level’ and 3.75% at the ‘Plinth Level’.
In East Khasi Hills, the target has been completed up to 38% with 1,907 houses being constructed, while 3,111 remain pending.
PMAY (Urban) Mission launched on June 25, 2015, intends to provide housing for all in urban areas by the year 2022.
The Mission provides central assistance to the implementing agencies through states and central nodal agencies (CNAs) for providing houses to all eligible families against the validated demand for houses for about 1.12 crore.
As per PMAY(U) guidelines, the size of a house for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) could be up to 30 square metre carpet area, But states have the flexibility to enhance the size of houses in consultation and approval of the Ministry.
