MAWKYRWAT, April 10: The UDP Nongjri zone in South West Khasi Hills on Monday felicitated Ranikor MLA Pius Marwein in the presence of the UDP Ranikor circle president GG Bung Snaitang, working president Cornelius Nongbri and hundreds of supporters.
The MLA was felicitated for his performance in the recently concluded Meghalaya Assembly elections.
Besides the Nongjri zone of UDP, the primary units of the party under Nongjri also felicitated the MLA.
Addressing the gathering, the MLA revealed that it was in the 2018 Assembly elections when he tasted defeat for the first time.
Marwein also said that he was 27 years old when he first decided to contest the 2018 Assembly elections.
Arguing that he chose to serve people at an age when others would enjoy life, Marwein continued, “My conscience did not allow me when I saw the problems faced by the people of Ranikor constituency and, therefore, I decided to contest the election and serve the people. And this spirit of serving the people still lives in me.”
The MLA also appealed to the people of Ranikor to cooperate with him and the government so that the constituency can be provided with all-round development.
