NONGPOH, April 13: The central body of Ri-Bhoi Youth Federation (RBYF), in collaboration with members from Raid Nongtung Circle, has donated benches and desks to St. Joseph English Medium School in Ummat-2 village in the district.
The school was jointly built by the villagers in 2021 in a bid to ensure that their children are not deprived of access to education, which was previously the case owing to lack of proper road connectivity and the distance of other schools from the village.
Despite the establishment of the school, the villagers have lamented the lack of developmental works in the area and the neglect that the village has faced over the years.
Expressing hope that the authorities lend an ear to their hardships and take corrective steps towards their betterment, the villagers have expressed their gratitude to the RBYF for its contribution.
They also informed how each family donates Rs. 150 towards the salaries of the teachers.
Meanwhile, the leaders of the RBYF have assured the villagers that they would continue to support the school and help it flourish.
They reiterated their commitment to the welfare of the children of the area and vowed to extend every possible help towards their education and development.
