SHILLONG, April 17: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Monday confirmed that talks are on between the National People’s Party and the People’s Democratic Front for a merger.
“Discussions are taking place but there is no conclusion as yet. We will see when the time comes,” he said.
The PDF has two MLAs – Banteidor Lyngdoh and Gavin Miguel Mylliem — in the 60-member Assembly.
Lyngdoh, who is the PDF working president, had earlier said the final decision on the merger of the party with the NPP will be taken by the party’s central executive committee after weighing the pros and cons.
