333 handicapped provide govt jobs

Srinagar: As many as 333 handicapped people have been provided jobs in different departments in the Jammu and Kashmir, where the government is contemplating to introduce petrol driven motorized tricycles for them.

Minister for Social welfare Sakina Itoo said all possible efforts are being made to improve the socio-economic condition of physically challenged people.

She said that in last four years, 333 handicapped people have been appointed in various Government departments and over Rs 1.30 lakh have been provided to physically challenged people under ISSS during last fiscal.

Ms Sakina said the government is contemplating to introduce petrol driven motorized tricycles for physically challenged people in the state.

She said that various Financial Institutions including National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation are providing loan facilities to the handicapped persons at low rate of interest for establishing own income generating ventures.

The Minister has issued directions to address the grievances of these persons and asked the concerned Commissioner Secretaries to strictly adhere the decisions taken in the meeting.

She asked the administrative Secretaries of Health, Education, CA&PD and Transport departments in mitigating the genuine problems of these persons by taking initiatives for their welfare. (UNI)
