TURA: The Meghalaya government’s refusal to transfer the Selsella BDO despite last week’s agitation against his continuance in office has spurred the GSU to announce a fresh round of protests for next week.

The GSU and its allies, FKJGP, AYWO and Mothers’ Union of Selsella, have called for a 5 AM to 5 PM bandh throughout Dadenggre civil sub-division area on August 12 and 13 to press for the removal of Dr D Roy, Selsella BDO, and revoking the transfer of Sub-Divisional School Education Officer I G Momin who has been posted out from Dadenggre to Mairang.

“Despite our office picketing and two days of non-cooperation movement last week the government has not taken action against Dr Roy and has also failed to revoke Momin’s transfer order. We are forced to call for new agitations,” informed GSU president of Dadenggre Rupa Marak.

The GSU also announced that the bandh would be effective all over Jengjal area along the national highway 51 which connects Tura with Assam and Shillong passes through. The other areas where the GSU has announced its closure includes Tikrikilla, Chibinang, Phulbari, Rajabala, Selsella and Dadenggre town.
