Shillong, April 30: As the conflict in Sudan entered third week, indiscriminate shooting persisted on Saturday throughout the nation’s capital, Khartoum.
Given the dire circumstances in the nation, which can see further instability if the conflict continues, the Sudanese were forced to escape the rift-ridden region.
Saudi Arabia has been assisting other nations with their evacuation missions, including India, the UAE, the UK, and the US.
The 10th batch, which included 135 Indian residents who were stuck in Sudan, safely departed from Port Sudan on an IAF C 130J jet on Saturday, April 29.
A seventh outbound flight for operation Kaveri, carrying 229 passengers, has departed from Jeddah in Saudi Arabia and will touch down in Bengaluru today. Arindam Bagchi, the Ministry of External Affairs’ spokesperson, shared the information.
So far, 1,191 Indians who were evacuated from Sudan’s civil war have arrived in the nation. 117 of these passengers are currently in quarantine because they did not have a yellow fever vaccination.
