Shillong, May 1: A day after a mobile phone was thrown at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s motorcade at a BJP roadshow in Mysuru, Karnataka, police said that they had tracked down the perpetrator. The person allegedly had “no ill intentions” behind it, according to them.
Alok Kumar, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Law and Order, claimed that a BJP worker was the owner of the phone. The Special Protection Group (SPG) was tasked with guarding PM Modi.
“The guy who tossed the phone on the PM’s car did it out of excitement and had no malice in their heart. SPG was guarding the Prime Minister. A BJP worker owns the phone. The phone was returned to the person by the SPG, according to our investigation”, said Alok Kumar.
The ADGP law and order said that the person who hurled the phone has been called to give a statement on Tuesday morning.
When Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conducting a roadshow in Mysuru on Sunday, a mobile phone was thrown at his vehicle in a security breach incident.
The phone can be seen being hurled in the direction of PM Modi’s car in the video. The Prime Minister, though, narrowly avoided it.
During the roadshow, a sizable crowd of people and BJP supporters had gathered on either side of the street to welcome the Prime Minister.
