NONGPOH, May 1: Family and friends of 19-year-old Walinda Binong, who died under mysterious circumstances in Rajasthan, bid a teary-eyed farewell as her mortal remains were cremated at Marngar cremation ground in Ri-Bhoi district on Monday.
Having already dismissed the suicide angle, the family has now demanded a CBI investigation to unearth the truth behind her demise.
Speaking to media persons, an elder of the clan, Michael Binong expressed grief over the loss and urged the state government to order a thorough investigation by the CBI.
Walinda’s death has raised concerns about the safety and security of thousands of students from Meghalaya who are pursuing higher studies in other states.
