NONGSTOIN, May 2: Continuing its fight for scrapping of the roster system and review of the state reservation policy, the VPP on Tuesday accused the state government of adopting an apathetic attitude towards the Khasi-Jaintia community instead of going ahead with a balanced approach.
The VPP launched its second phase of public rallies with a meeting at Nongstoin on Tuesday to seek support from the public regarding the demand to review the outdated reservation policy and to provide proper and correct perspective to the public on the unjust implementation of the roster system based on the unfair premise of the existing job quota policy.
VPP president Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit said the MDA 2.0 Government had disregarded the demand of the party to convene a special session to discuss the issue which has forced the party to seek support from the public.
“Nobody lives in this world forever…so before we leave this world we should ensure that our future generation should live securely and peacefully,” he said.
He sounded confident that despite having only four MLAs, the VPP will continue its fight until its demands are met.
