Police said on Sunday Oli Hanse the headman of Sadailangso, a remote village under Bokoliaghat police station, was attacked and killed with sharp weapons by a group of about 12 Karbi Peoples Liberation Tigers (KPLT) men.

The militants left the body in the courtyard of the village headman’s house.

The KPLT has been engaging in various incidents of attacks and assaults during its ongoing 300-hour bandh, called in support of autonomous state comprising Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts.

It had also attacked a police outpost during the bandh period.

A KPLT spokesperson was quoted by local television channels as stating that the group will continue with its activities till the autonomous state demand was met.

The JACAS has set a deadline of August 14 for the government to announce the date for tripartite talks.

The chief minister later left for New Delhi to discuss the separate states demands arising in Assam and arrange tripartite discussions as demanded by the agitators.

All Bodo Students Union (ABSU), leading a separate Bodoland demand, took out a bicycle rally in Bodoland Territorial Autonomous districts and threatened of intensified movement if their demand for tripartite talks was not met by August 13 next. (UNI)
