SHILLONG, May 16: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Tuesday put to rest all speculations over the UDP being dropped from the MDA 2.0 Government.
Talking to reporters here on Wednesday, the CM dismissed reports that one of the two Cabinet berths will be taken away from the UDP to accommodate one of the two PDF MLAs who have merged with the NPP.
“There is no such thing and these are mere speculations,” Sangma said.
Reacting to the war of words between the UDP and NPP during the campaign in Sohiong, the CM said such things happen during elections.
“This is the nature of elections and political parties will give speeches and sometimes utter words that go out of control. But as coalition partners, the MDA will always keep the larger interest of the state above everything else,” he said.
He pointed out that the nature of exchanges and languages used during the elections in February did nothing to hamper the relations between the different parties.
“If you recall, after the election we all came together to form the MDA 2.0. And we stressed on the fact that we have been working for the past five years to take the state forward. We want to continue with the same spirit,” Sangma said.
