Cabinet approves policy to manage construction, demolition waste

SHILLONG, May 17: The State Cabinet, during a marathon discussion on Wednesday, gave its nod to the Meghalaya State Policy on Construction and Demolition Waste 2021 to better manage construction and demolition waste.
“The government has come up with a policy wherein it will make it mandatory to ensure that the wastes generated by construction and demolition will be handled in a proper manner,” Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said.
The Cabinet also approved the Meghalaya State Wakf Board Rules 2023 and the amendment to the Meghalaya State Food Commission Rules. It has also approved the enhancement of cash grant to recipients from gallantry and distinguished award winners of Army, Navy and Air Force personnel of the state.
