SHILLONG, May 23: The state government on Tuesday sought time from the High Court of Meghalaya to file an affidavit indicating the action taken with regard to the facts and the observations indicated in the 13th interim report filed by Justice (retd) Brojendra Prasad Katakey in the matter pertaining to illegal mining and transportation of coal in the state.
“Since the state seeks some time, particularly to file the report by way of an affidavit sought from the Director-General of Police, let the matter appear on May 25, 2023,” the full bench said in its order on Tuesday.
In its previous order, the court had directed the Chief Secretary and the DGP to file personal affidavits responding to the facts and the observations indicated in Justice Katakey’s report.
