Federation adopts resolutions for World Env Day

SHILLONG, June 3: The Federation of Shillong Hotels, following a meeting, has adopted three resolutions for the World Environment Day, which will be celebrated on Monday.
According to a statement here, the Federation has requested all hospitality establishments to avoid use of bottled drinking water in their respective properties which will result in reducing generation of plastic waste.
“The Federation advises them to provide clean filtered drinking water in clean glass bottles instead,” the statement said.
Similarly, a resolution has also been taken to paste a sticker inside tourist taxis to deter travellers from littering public places and provide them with solutions to dispose of waste generated while consuming eatables inside the vehicle.
“Additionally, the DTO will be approached by the Federation to make it mandatory for all tourist cabs to carry a small dustbin,” the statement said.
The Federation has also requested all hotels and restaurants to plant one sapling each and click a picture on June 5.
