Three earthquakes hit Jammu and Kashmir causing panic among residents

Shillong, June 14: In the early hours of Wednesday, the regions of Katra and Doda in Jammu and Kashmir experienced a series of three earthquakes, leading to a state of panic among the residents.

These tremors occurred just a day after a 5.4 magnitude earthquake had struck Doda, causing damage to numerous buildings and resulting in injuries to at least five individuals.

As per the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the first earthquake, measuring 4.3 on the Richter Scale, was felt at 2:20 am on June 14. The epicenter of this earthquake was located at a depth of 10 km and was situated 81 km away from Katra.

Subsequently, the second earthquake, measuring 3.5 on the Richter Scale, occurred at 7:56 am with a depth of 10 km, as reported by the NCS.

A third earthquake measuring 3.3 on the Richter Scale took place at 8:29 am. The NCS stated that its epicenter was situated at a depth of 5 km in Kishtwar.

On Tuesday, Doda had experienced a 5.4 magnitude earthquake, resulting in damage to numerous buildings and injuries to at least five people, according to officials.
