NONGSTOIN: The State Government’s announcement for separation of the Executive and the Judiciary in four districts of the State sans West Khasi Hills has not gone down well with the KSU West Khasi Hills Unit, which has condemned the Government’s neglect of the district.

The State Government had announced the separation of the Judiciary from the Executive in East Khasi Hills, West Jaintia Hills, Ri Bhoi and West Garo Hills districts.

The KSU complained that West Khasi Hills being one of the oldest districts in the State should have been included in the list. The Union condemned the step-motherly treatment of West Khasi Hills as far as developmental announcements by the Government are concerned.

The KSU reminded that only last year, the Government had denied the laying of an artificial turf at Nongstoin and setting up of a Government college in the district.

They alleged that West Khasi Hills, the largest district in the State, has remained ‘invisible’ to the Government.

“The undue and repeated discrimination meted out towards West Khasi Hills by the Government has reached a boiling point. If such attitude continues, we would be compelled to take steps to let the Government know that they cannot take us for granted always,” the KSU stated.
