The National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Shillong will host the North East NSS Festival at NEHU Campus, Shillong, from June 19 to 23 under the aegis of Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. According to a statement here, participants from across Northeast will attend the five-day event. The inaugural programme, on the other hand, will be attended by Governor Phagu Chauhan and Education Minister Rakkam A. Sangma as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.

West Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner has declared July 7 as a local holiday on account of Behdeinkhlam festival. In this regard, all state government offices, revenue and magisterial courts, banks and educational institutions located in the district have been directed to remain closed on the aforementioned date.
