Elderly man gets 5 years for rape attempt

TURA, June 16: A 70-year-old man has been awarded five years of imprisonment along with a penalty of Rs 10,000 by a POCSO court for attempting to sexually assault a minor girl in Tura.
The sentence was awarded to one Pranesh Chakraborty Roy of Dobakkol locality in Tura.
According to police, Roy had attempted to rape the minor girl at her own home at around 10:30 am in June 2021. The family of the victim had subsequently filed a complaint at the Tura Women’s Police Station, following which an investigation was initiated and a charge sheet was filed.
The POCSO court, after completion of the trial, found Roy guilty and served the sentence.
