TURA, June 18: The A•chik Literature Society (ALS) recently released author Mukthi R. Marak’s first publication of short stories titled ‘Mingsa Katta Dongachim aro Gipin Golporang’, during a function held at Mason Phillips Academy.
The book was released by ALS president Prof Caroline R. Marak, who, in her speech, recalled what Aristotle, the first literary critic of the West, observed about the worth of literature as an art by itself, and by comparing it with other disciplines like history.
She shared her observations on the good prose style and language used by the author, and the unity in the plot construction. She added that sense of humour on the part of the author, elements of surprise, and suspense would sustain the interest of the readers.
Executive Member of ALS and A•chik Publisher Society, Seming D. Sangma, on the other hand, congratulated the author and said that literary compositions spring out of the fullness of the heart and mind. “Literature reflects life; the future readers will find life during the early decades of the second millennium in these stories,” Seming said.
Tura Baptist Church Deacon, Sengbat G. Momin, said the publication will encourage the younger generation to make their own compositions.
Fellow writer Wilberth D. Marak, on the other hand, expressed delight at another writer making contributions to Garo literature.
