SHILLONG: The All Meghalaya Contractors’ and Suppliers’ Association has reiterated its strong reservation to the proposed implementation of the ‘Asian Development Bank Sponsored project for Supporting Human Capital Development in Meghalaya’, alleging that the project is being implemented with a ploy to suppress the small-time contractors of the State.

In a letter shot off to the head of Asian Development Bank (ADB), S Chakravarti, on Thursday, general secretary of the contractors’ association, BL Nongbri, demanded that the local qualified contractors should be allowed to compete in the bidding process since local contractors were qualified to execute the project under the guidance of the concern executing agency.

The Association asked the ADB head to keep the pre-Bid in abeyance and to review the entire Bid failing which the contractors’ body threatened to stall the implementation of the project and approach the judiciary for legal redressal.
