NONGSTOIN, June 20: Four days since the treacherous waters of Wah Blei swept away three fishermen in West Khasi Hills, the search for the bodies of the remaining two persons has so far remained unfruitful as locals rue lack of expertise among the village volunteers in retrieving the bodies.
On Sunday, the villagers could only retrieve the body of Shillingbest Langrin, one of the three fishermen.
Maintaining that without proper tools and techniques, the Sordar of Maweit, NS Langrin, said that it is hard to trace or to retrieve the bodies of the remaining fishermen.
He urged the higher authority for assistance, while adding that the villagers have voluntary taken part in the search for four days now.
Langrin said that after the FIR was filed with Nongstoin police station, there was no outside help or assistance from the police or the emergency service department. The villagers who volunteered in the search have no experience in organising a search to retrieve the bodies, he added.
