SHILLONG, June 21: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Wednesday revealed that the state government has issued directions to concerned authorities to maintain records and monitor the movement of people coming to the state from strife-torn Manipur.
Stating that as a sister state in the Northeast, it is time for all the people of the Northeast to support the people of Manipur, he said, “We need to be positive from that angle but at the same time there are concerns in certain localities where people are temporarily settling in large numbers.”
Maintaining that the Rangbah Shnongs and the district administration is keeping track of everybody coming in, he said, “The situation in Manipur is tense and we all are appealing for peace.”
“We appeal to the Centre to provide necessary humanitarian support to the people. The GOI should ensure that food and other materials are available in sufficient quantities and it reaches the people who need them,” he added.
