Music school inaugurated, to tap potential of youths

SHILLONG, June 22: In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the Inclusive Music School was inaugurated at Captain Williamson Sangma State Museum on Wednesday on the occasion of World Music Day.
The music school was jointly inaugurated by Commissioner and Secretary of Arts and Culture department, Frederick Roy Kharkongor, along with the Director General of North East Centre for Technology Application & Reach (NECTAR) Dr. Arun Kumar Sarma.
It may be mentioned that the idea behind this music school is to hone young and deprived sections of talents from this region and provide them a proper platform to earn their livelihood respectfully.
While speaking on the initiative, the NECTAR director said that it is a first-of-its-kind project taken up by NECTAR with the objective to uplift the livelihood of the musicians from this region.
He also assured that NECTAR will come up with more such projects in the entire Northeast in the days to come.
Meanwhile, Kharkongor said that the department will try its best to promote this music school so that young music talents can benefit from the same.
