SHILLONG, June 22: Meghalaya State Commission for Women (MSCW) chairperson, Phidalia Toi on Thursday said she learnt about her removal from the post only from media reports.
She told The Shillong Times that she is yet to receive any official letter conveying her removal as the MSCW chairperson.
She said it will be difficult for her to comment since she had only read Social Welfare Minister, Paul Lyngdoh’s statement in the media about her removal.
“I would be able to react in a proper manner if I had received the official letter. I have continued to perform my duties as the chairperson,” she said.
Toi also said that the minister would be the best person to reply on the matter since he is the only person privy to the decision.  “I can only say if I have not done my duties, then I deserve to be criticised. But the members of the Commission know that I am doing my duties with full dedication. At the same time, I also understand that it is difficult to make everyone happy,” Toi said.
She said the records are there in the office to prove that she chaired all the meetings of the Commission. She said there was not a single meeting that the vice chairperson chaired since she was always there.
She said she had called an emergency meeting after reading the media reports about her removal.
“It is difficult to say what is in the mind of the minister. I don’t know why the minister is after me,” Toi added.
